Before the bridge and pickups can be located, the next step is to cut the neck pocket. The bridge has a range of 10 – 15mm for string height, so I’ve gone for a depth of neck pocket to leave the neck 9mm above the top *before* it’s radiused.
The neck pocket wasn’t as good as the previous one, there is a little bit of play in the neck but nothing significant. First it was cut into the 6mm MDF, then copied into 12mm (on a wide piece to make it easy to clamp). Again I almost ran out of depth on the router, but it just made it. Finally, I used a chisel to square up the edges of the neck pocket.
