Semi hollow guitars normally use the “F-holes” seen on violins, cellos and arch top guitars. Instead, as previously mentioned, I’ve gone for something a bit more modern (and simple to do). I designed a pattern of holes using coins while sat in front of the TV…..

To ensure I got the pattern I wanted, I quickly made a template in MDF. The small holes are a 16mm spade bit and the larger holes a 25mm forstner bit. The hole is drilled at this stage to allow for the back of it to be supported (reducing the chances of splitting the back). Thankfully I was looking at another build blog, or I may have skipped this stage before I glued it on.
