So the plan was a Telecaster build (as they seemed the “simplest” of any to do). The mahogany body set the tone for the project – it’s going to be dark and rock sounding guitar (I hope).
Parts
- Neck: Not brave enough to build a neck on my first go, I sourced a neck, pre-fretted with a paddle headstock off Ebay.
- Pickups: I always fancied trying some active pickups, this seemed the perfect time. EMG 81 and SA – again from Ebay.
- Bridge: Hardtail bridge to keep things simple. Top loader.
- Tuners: Cheapest locking tuners I could find.
- Misc Hardware: Volume, tone, 3 way switch and a Kill-switch thrown in to make things more interesting. Almost all the parts came from Axetec
- Strings: It’s going to be 10-56 in Eb, so something a bit different (for me).
